Step 2 - Checking to see if your PC is supported

To check if your PC is supported, right click on the Tray Icon and select Settings from the menu. A few seconds later the Settings window will open up on your desktop.

It is quite big and has lots of buttons but do not worry about that too much. For this check we only need the General section. By default this section is already selected and should appear in Blue letters while the rest of the section buttons are still black.

The General section is divided into 3 sub sections, Basic, Advanced and System Info.

The first question you have to answer if are you an FIC SD-11 user, if you don't know what this means then you are not. However if you are a FIC-SD 11 user then you should go to the Advanced section first and check the FIC SD-11 checkbox. This will force the Sensor chip to work with MBM 5. Next press the Apply button which should be red by now and then Close MBM 5 by going to the Popup menu and selecting Close. Next start MBM 5 again and go to the Settings window.

The second question you have to answer if are you an Tyan 2640 MP or K7 Thunder user, if you don't know what this means then you are not. However if you are then you should go to the Advanced section first and check the Tyan checkbox which is at the bottom. This will make sure both sensor chips build into your board are available to MBM 5. Next press the Apply button which should be red by now and then Close MBM 5 by going to the Popup menu and selecting Close. Next start MBM 5 again and go to the Settings window.

The third thing we now need to do is to go to the System Info section of the General tab. To go there simply click the System info button.

A whole new panel has been opened that is still blank. Push the little PC button at the bottom left and you will see information about your system and MBM 5. The lines that are important are the ones marked with the text ----- Main Sensor Chip -----.

Under this header you should see what your Main Sensor Chip is. If you see None then this means that MBM 5 could not detect a primary sensor chip; this means that this version of MBM 5 can not show you any voltages or fans.

To check if this version can at least show you some temperatures look under the text -Sensor Chip Selections- to see if you see any sensor names listed there, if you do not have any sensor names then this version of MBM is of no use to you, A future version might work with your PC as I add new sensor chips on a regular bases. Of course if you have no sensor chip at all then MBM 5 will never work on your PC.

If you see a chip name or you see at least some sensor names then go to step 3, just remember that if you don't see a chip name you can skip the part about voltages and fan in step 3
